WHY IS IT NOTEWORTHY:

  • Like “deadheads” are to The Grateful Dead, “Fredheads” are to Fred Eaglesmith.
  • Eaglesmith has attracted a cult-like following. Critics have compared him to the likes of Woody Guthrie and Bruce Springsteen, but his style can’t be duplicated.
  • His sound is a mix of hard-edged honky-tonk country with early ‘60s rock and Americana.
  • His music has been used in films directed by Martin Scorsese and James Caan.
  • When he’s not in the studio, Eaglesmith creates visual art that is exhibited in commercial galleries and museums.

  • Andy Brown’s Oct. 11th show at Cedar Tree has already sold out, but due to the demand, a second show was added for the next night.
  • This is one of Brown’s last shows before he showcases in Saint John at the Music NB Awards then heads back to Australia.
  • While there, he’ll support past Australian Idol winner Damien Leith‘s album release tour.
  • Brown has performed alongside some of Canada’s top musical exports like Joel Plaskett, The Trews, Matt Mays, Hey Rosetta, Hawksley Workman.
  • His latest album, Tinman, was released earlier this year and features collaborations with Jenn Grant, David Myles, Tim Chaisson and more.

  • In the past year, Ellsworth has shared the stage with Steve Poltz, Matt Andersen, Gordie Sampson, Peter Elkas Willie Nile, among others.
