The Capital’s Pre-Pop is a festival of artists travelling to and from the Halifax Pop Explosion. But Fredericton got the first taste of Saskatchewan’s Rah Rah and Toronto-based Poor Young Things at the Capital on Tuesday before they continued on to Halifax Thursday.

Rah Rah was clearly the most anticipated act of the line up. The 6-piece pop-rockers have garnered national attention with their latest album The Poet’s Dead and catchy single “Art and a Wife.” In June, this album was longlisted for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize.

Poor Young Things debut album The Heart. The Head. The End. came a couple of years after a move from Thunder Bay, Ontario to Toronto. Their album’s single “Revolver” is getting a national radio attention and these rockers are generally “what you see is what you get.” No filler or fluff, they’re live show is genuine and captivating.

Fredericton’s Sexghost opened the show, featuring members of The Floogs, Josh Bravener and Will Pacey.
